Once again, the Filipino common man finds himself in the middle of quarreling sides of self-proclaimed "new politicians" acting with old traditional political motives. On a sudden twist of events, the Department of Justice was able to issue an order barring the former Lady President from flying to a country where extradition is non-existent, for medical reasons as their cover. The once powerful but now disgraced leader, tried to escape the harsh judgment of her former subordinates but failed. One would think it is a good plot for a primetime Pinoy teleserye. Now that she is in hospital arrest (the same hospital where her predecessor was detained for accusations of plunder), Erap says, he feels vindicated. Maybe, one can call it karmic justice. Maybe, it's preposterous to put it that way. But that's how it looks like. To a Filipino common man like me, I feel like I am always placed in a political dissonance such as this. Where, one can only hope the current administration succeeds in placing appropriate charges against the offender, not letting the accused gain momentum that in the end they will be forgiven and worse, forgotten. This happened before. So what's the guarantee that this is not going to happen once more. Here I am, a common Filipino man, praying for one nation's political maturity. The common sense would tell me forget about this. But I can't. I refuse.
