Thought: Is there an end to this?

I may be smiling, but deep inside, I have this slight regret of leaving the Philippines. This winter season has been very brutal to all of New England area. Blizzard after blizzard, snowstorms and whiteouts. Meteorologists all over my television giving their predictions. School closings and parking bans announced early. All this I have to swallow as part of living in this region of the country. Oh, did I say it was our first winter? Yup, it was. Dealing with this kind of weather is very much alien to me. I told my colleagues at work, after shoveling for more than two hours, the first thing I did was to look for tickets for a flight back home. They were laughing but I was sure they were worried. Heck, I was. How do I survive this?
Oh, I finally found my car after digging through the thick pile of ice. I only have to think of a way to get to work. I was in deep thought. Was there an end to this? And if there was, when? I can't wait.

These were some scenes in front of my house early in the morning during the peak of the most recent blizzard.

The following day, the school was closed, but I have to go to work. The usual eight to ten minutes travel time from house to work became thirty. It was the slowest drive I have ever made at 10 mph. Almost all establishments are closed but healthcare facilities, as usual, are operational. Here's Alec enjoying himself in his made-up snow fort as captured by Cathy. Lucky kid.

AFTERTHOUGHT: Hmmm, getting a snowmobile may not be a bad idea.
